New to You Resale Shop
The safety of our shoppers, donors, volunteers and staff is foremost in our minds right now.
In light of the continued unknowns and uncertainty,
the shop will remain closed through the summer of 2021.
Donations and consignment goods will no longer be accepted.
Whether you have been a volunteer, a donor, or a shopper in the New To You Resale Shop at St. John’s at any point in our long history since we opened in 1980, we would like to share our sincere appreciation for your support. Over the course of the 40 years since the New To You Shop opened, this mission of St. John’s Episcopal Church has provided low cost goods to the community, modest income to consignors, as well as contributing tens of thousands of dollars to missions within the church and in the greater community. It has also provided volunteer opportunities for hundreds of St. John’s members whose commitment to this ministry has been key to our work and success.
When we closed the Shop, along with the church building in March in response to the COVID-19 virus, we had no idea how long we would be away and what the impact of this pandemic would be, particularly on a retail business that relies on donated goods. While we all know far more than we did a few months ago, we still have much to learn about the virus and how we can best keep ourselves and our community safe as we begin to venture out more widely.
The safety of our shoppers, donors, volunteers and staff is foremost in our minds right now. In light of the continued unknowns and uncertainty, and in conjunction with Capital Campaign construction projects beginning soon and continuing through at least early 2021, we have decided that the shop will remain closed through the summer of 2021. Donations and consignment goods will no longer be accepted.
The New To You Shop has been a beloved ministry of this church. Hundreds of volunteers have dedicated their time, treasure and talents here, and we have partnered with more than 2,600 consignors since we opened. The Shop has seen countless treasures come through the doors and has been a happy place for so many people. We are proud of the outreach provided, as well as the grants that have been allocated to a wide variety of charities over the decades.
Thank you for partnering with us to help support our community. We will take this time to review our current business model and discern how best to use our spaces as we move through this pause. It has been a pleasure to meet and work with so many caring people and to reflect on the impacts during these 40 years in the resale shop. We celebrate the great work of the New To You Shop and look forward to what the future holds.
The Rev. Beth Taylor KathyWilliams Rector, St. John’s Episcopal Church Shop Manager
